Subscription & billing

How Premium pricing works during Open Beta, plus how to upgrade, cancel, and request a refund. Binding terms are in the Terms and Refund Policy.

Open Beta plans

These are launch prices — valid until 30 Jun 2026:

  • Monthly Premium (Open Beta) — £9.99/month. Cancel anytime.
  • Annual Premium (Open Beta) — £99.99/year (£8.33/mo equivalent — Save £20 vs Beta monthly, or save £139.89 vs after-beta monthly).

Both prices are VAT-inclusive. Study Smart AI is not currently VAT-registered, so the amount you see is the amount we receive.

What happens to the price after Beta?

After Open Beta ends on 30 Jun 2026, the list price is expected to rise to £19.99/month. Annual will rise proportionally. These figures aren't locked yet — we'll publish the final post-Beta pricing at least 60 days before any change takes effect.

Locking in Beta pricing

If you subscribe during Open Beta and stay continuously subscribed (no cancel-and- resub), we keep you on the Beta price until 30 June 2027. After that, we'll give you at least 60 days' notice before any price change.

If you cancel and re-subscribe later, you'll pay the then-current public price — so annual is genuinely the safer hedge if you plan to stick around.

What payment methods do you accept?

Stripe Checkout handles all payments. We accept:

  • Visa, Mastercard, American Express (credit and debit)
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay
  • Some local UK methods Stripe shows automatically (e.g. Link)

We don't store your card details — Stripe does, and they're a Level 1 PCI-compliant payments provider.

How do I upgrade?

Visit the Pricing page, pick Monthly or Annual, and you'll be redirected to Stripe Checkout. Premium activates immediately on successful payment — your dashboard updates within seconds.

Will my subscription auto-renew?

Yes. Monthly subscriptions renew every 30 days, annual every 365 days, using the card on file. You can switch off auto-renewal at any time from Manage subscription on your dashboard. Stripe emails you a reminder before each annual renewal so you have time to decide.

How do I cancel?

From your dashboard, click “Manage subscription” — that opens the Stripe Customer Portal, where you can cancel with one click. Cancelling takes effect at the end of your current billing period (you keep Premium until then; we don't pro-rate a partial month).

Stripe will email you a confirmation. If you don't see it, check spam, or email support@smartaisolution.co.uk and we'll confirm.

Refunds

UK consumers have a 14-day cooling-off period from the start of the subscription. Within those 14 days, we refund any payment if you haven't consumed a material part of Premium (we use a generous “rough common-sense” threshold — sporadic answering during the cooling-off window doesn't void it).

After 14 days, refunds aren't guaranteed, but if something genuinely went wrong (we broke something, double-charged, misleading copy) we'll make it right. Email support@smartaisolution.co.uk with your account email and what happened.

Invoices & receipts

Stripe automatically emails you a receipt for every charge. You can also download all past invoices from the Customer Portal (same Manage subscription button on your dashboard). VAT is not separately itemised because we're not VAT-registered.

I have a Beta invite code AND I want to subscribe

That works. Redeem your Beta code first — it grants 60 days of Premium without a card. If you then subscribe before those 60 days end, Stripe defers your first charge until the day after your Beta grant ends. You don't lose any Beta days, and you lock in the Beta price for renewals afterwards.

My card was declined. What now?

Stripe shows the reason on screen. The most common ones are:

  • 3D Secure failed — your bank wants to verify the payment. Try again and complete the SMS / banking-app prompt.
  • Insufficient funds — try a different card or top up.
  • International payment blocked — some UK cards block non-domestic transactions by default. Stripe is a UK-based processor, but check with your bank.

If none of the above and the decline is unexplained, email support@smartaisolution.co.uk with the date, the last 4 digits of the card, and a screenshot of the error — we'll check the Stripe logs.
